Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
We built FocusMon to respect your privacy: no advertising, no third-party tracking, no analytics SDKs, and your game data stored on servers in the European Union. This Privacy Policy explains which personal data we process when you use the FocusMon app and the website at focusmon.com, on what legal basis, and which rights you have.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
We have not appointed a data protection officer, as we are not legally required to do so.
2. Data We Process
Depending on how you use FocusMon, we process the following categories of personal data:
Account and authentication data
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique account identifier, your email address (with Sign in with Apple this may be an anonymized Apple relay address), and a display name. In guest mode, only an anonymous Firebase user ID is created without an email address. We also store a self-chosen display name, an avatar selection, and your friend code.
Game and progress data
Your game progress (monster collection, levels, items, in-game currencies, ranks), your focus sessions (durations and timestamps — not the content of what you focus on), statistics, and app settings. This data is stored in the cloud so it syncs across your sessions and devices.
Online, social and battle data
If you use the online features, we process data for ranked and friend battles, leaderboards, friend lists and friend codes, trades, and blocked users. Your display name, avatar, rank, and selected game stats are visible to other users within these features (e.g. on leaderboards or to friends). You decide whether to use these features.
Support communication
If you contact us through the in-app support system or by email, we process your messages and the related account identifier in order to handle your request.
Push notifications
If you enable push notifications, we store a device notification token (FCM token) linked to your account so we can send you notifications (e.g. focus reminders or battle invitations). You can revoke this at any time in your device's system settings.
Technical and configuration data
To operate the App we process technical data required for the connection (e.g. IP address and device/usage data processed by our hosting provider), as well as remote configuration values that let us enable or adjust features. We do not use this data to track you or create user profiles for advertising.
Purchases
In-app purchases and the FocusMon+ subscription are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment data. We only receive the information needed to unlock your purchase (e.g. subscription or supporter status) linked to your account.
3. Data We Do NOT Process
FocusMon does not collect or process:
- Location data
- Contacts or address book data
- Health or fitness data
- Photos, videos, or camera access
- Advertising identifiers, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics
4. Purposes and Legal Bases
We process your data on the following legal bases under Art. 6(1) GDPR:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): creating and managing your account, providing and syncing the game, and the online, social, and battle features you choose to use.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): push notifications (granted via the system dialog), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): security, stability, prevention of cheating and abuse, and the technical operation of the App. Our interest lies in providing a secure, functioning service.

- Minors (Art. 6(1)(a) in conjunction with Art. 8 GDPR): for users under 16, processing is based on the consent of their legal guardian.
5. Recipients and Processors
We use carefully selected service providers who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements (Art. 28 GDPR):
- Google (Firebase): provided by Google Ireland Limited, Ireland. We use Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, and Cloud Storage. Game data is stored in EU data centres (Firestore: Frankfurt/europe-west3; Realtime Database: Belgium/europe-west1). firebase.google.com/support/privacy · policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple: Apple Inc. / Apple Distribution International Ltd. processes in-app purchases, subscriptions, Sign in with Apple, and push delivery via the Apple Push Notification service. apple.com/legal/privacy
6. Transfers to Third Countries
Game data is stored on servers within the EU. However, in connection with certain services (in particular authentication, push notification delivery, and support operations by Google and Apple), data may be processed by the parent companies in the USA. These providers are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework; in addition, transfers are safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. A residual risk that authorities in the third country may access the data cannot be entirely ruled out.
7. Storage Period
We store your account and game data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, the associated data is permanently removed from our active systems and from backups within 30 days. Support messages are retained for as long as necessary to process the request and to comply with any statutory retention periods. The push token is removed when you sign out, disable notifications, or uninstall the App.
8. Deleting Your Data
You can delete your account and all associated game data at any time within the App via Settings → Delete Account. You can also export your data as JSON in the App. Alternatively, contact us at contact@focusmon.com.

Minors under 18 may only use the App with the consent of their legal guardian; for users under 16, the processing of personal data additionally requires the consent of the legal guardian (Art. 8 GDPR). We do not knowingly process data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

You may exercise your rights through the in-app settings or by contacting us at contact@focusmon.com.
11. Data Security
Data is transmitted in encrypted form (TLS) and access to our backend systems is restricted via authentication and access rules. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data; however, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or the legal situation. The current version always applies and is identified by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. In the event of material changes, we will inform you appropriately within the App.
